ห้องปฏิบัติการนิติพยาธิวิทยา ก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อวิเคราะห์ จัดเก็บชิ้นเนื้อ ส่งตรวจชิ้นเนื้อทางห้องปฏิบัติการ และจัดเก็บวัตถุพยาน ทั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อตรวจชิ้นเนื้อผู้เสียชีวิตที่ผ่านการชันสูตรพลิกศพภายใต้การดูแลของภาควิชานิติเวชศาสตร์ คณะแพทย์ศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย นำไปสู่การพิสูจน์สาเหตุและระยะเวลาการเสียชีวิตได้อย่างแม่นยำยิ่งขึ้น รวมถึงเพื่อการศึกษาและวิจัยทางนิติเวชศาสตร์ในอนาคต
